The United States Hunter Jumper Association Emerging
Athletes Program, presented by Dover Saddlery, held training sessions in Texas
and Virginia for nearly 40 riders from across the country. Peirce Equestrian’s very own Makayla Harp received
the honor for being one of the riders selected representing the East Texas
Equestrian center. The Emerging Athletes
Program is supported in part by a generous grant from the United States
Equestrian Federation, as well as individual donors through the USHJA
Foundation. While the majority of riders
are new to the program, eight are returning to the program to continue
improving their horsemanship in and out of the saddle. The eight riders returning to the program
include: Chloe Bellerive, Cary Hundley, Nicole Hylton, Johanna Jessen, Sydney
Moriarty, Anna O'Connor, Lara Shelokov, and Pierce Equestrian’s Makayla Harp!
Makayla began riding when she was ten years old. She has always
had an incredible work ethic and a desire to be the best. Makayla is a
successful competitor in Hunters and Jumpers; riding a variety of different
catch rides in her youth to now competing client and sale horses. Much of her
riding education has been with Amanda Peirce but she actively seeks out
instruction from the best in the industry.
Peirce Equestrian offers their clients personalized care,
training, and instruction. Whether a beginner or veteran rider, or looking to
